Job Description:

Manage the day-to-day operation of the Womenspace 24-hour Safe House under the general supervision of the Assistant Executive Director

Shift: Primarily Monday – Friday, 9-5 p.m., evening and weekend work as needed

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following other duties may be assigned.

1. Ensure the provision of service delivery at the Safe House is consistent with agency philosophy and values.
2. Provide supervision and support to staff consistent with agency philosophy and values.
3. Develop program goals and objectives, implement activities to achieve them, evaluate progress in achieving the objectives, and modify program activities/ procedures as indicated by evaluation results.
4. Develop proposals for new and/or significantly modified programs to meet current and emerging needs.
5. Oversee procedures in case of fire, medical emergency, accessibility, and cultural competency.
6. Ensure that the shelter is organized, clean, safe and operational.
7. Compile and present monthly/yearly program reports and statistics.
8. Facilitate Safe House direct service staff meetings and ensure staff members are updated on available resources for participants, emerging needs, and changes in agency procedures and policies.
9. Schedule participant support groups and oversee Safe House youth services. Provide oversight on ongoing client advocacy. Maintain strict confidentiality.
10. Monitor Safe House expenditures of client assistances monies through analysis of monthly financial statements.
11. Establish and maintain relationships with community programs that provide support services for clients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to relate to and communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
2. Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred. Fluency in other languages considered.
3. BA/BS in related field or combination of skills and experience required.
4. At least two years of paid, full-time experience in the field of domestic violence services, at least one year of effective staff supervisory experience. Residential and management experience preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to supervise and retain a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
6. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings, trainings, and workshops. Experienced and effective public speaker and trainer.
7. Working knowledge of computers – Word, Excel, Power Point, Email.
8. Reading and writing skills which include the ability to access and utilize a variety of resource materials in a timely manner and to maintain accurate, organized records.
9. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the impact on adult and child survivors. Understanding the connection between domestic and sexual violence and other forms of oppression.
10. Demonstrated ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, give clear direction and provide strong leadership in crisis situations.
11. Demonstrated understanding of safety planning and crisis intervention response.
12. Knowledge of community resources and experience accessing resources.
13. Successful completion of Womenspace 30+ hour advocacy training program (may be completed after hiring).

Must have transportation, current insurance coverage, and a valid driver’s license. Background check and Department of Motor Vehicle Driving Record review required.
