Job Description:
Requirements for the position include a degree from an accredited four-year
college or university and at least three of experience in domestic violence
service provision, child protection, social justice, systems advocacy, or
a related field. Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of policy
development process; program development skills; exceptional written and oral
communication skills; and the ability to work cooperatively across the FVDs
multiple efforts with staff, partner organizations, domestic violence advocacy
groups, the judiciary, and FVD advisory committees and groups.
The position has a strong emphasis on critical thinking; analytical ability;
designing and coordinating meetings and projects; grant and report writing;
and in-depth technical assistance and training provision. Applicants must
have strong organizational skills with both a broad vision and attention to
detail, comprehensive computer skills, and have a willingness and ability
to travel nationwide. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Position
Summary
Under the supervision of professional personnel, evaluates current legal and
social aspects of issues in relation to domestic violence, custody, child
abuse, and other aspects of juvenile and family law. Heavy emphasis on research,
writing, analysis of data and various information, and designing and giving
presentations in an adult education setting.
Position Requirements
Undergraduate degree from an accredited university and at least four years
of experience in a child welfare, domestic violence, or juvenile/family law-related
field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently, and initiate, organize, and follow tasks through
to completion. Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
Demonstrated ability in professional issues related to domestic violence,
child welfare, juvenile/family law, or juvenile justice. Ability to communicate
effectively in verbal and written format regarding public policy, legal and
social aspects of specialized areas of interest in child welfare, juvenile/family
law, or juvenile justice. Demonstrated skill with principles of adult education.
Skill in presenting information or materials in an adult education setting.
May require supervision of subordinate personnel. Must establish and maintain
effective working relationships with co-workers, members of the organization,
and the general public.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: collection and analyses
of data from various sources; timely and accurate production of reports and
related materials; delivery of instruction in adult training seminars on topics
of expertise; timely and accurate responses to requests for information from
staff, professionals in the field, and the general public.
Working Environment
Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. may be required. Evening, weekend, and
holiday work may be required. Travel, both in and out of state, may be required.
