Job Description:

The National Center for Victims of Crime, the nation’s leading resource and advocacy organization for crime victims, seeks a full-time Development Manager. The Development Manager will serve as a key member of our integrated management team and will be responsible for all aspects of private and public fundraising. She/he will report directly to the Executive Director.

Job Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement a fundraising plan to maximize private (individual, corporate, and foundation) support for the National Center.

2. Build the National Center’s individual donor program by:

-Engaging in hands-on fundraising from a portfolio of major donors; -Planning and implementing fundraising and cultivation events, with logistical support from the events department; -Developing and managing host committees for fundraising events; -Increasing Board involvement to secure philanthropic donations; and -Designing communication tools for fundraising.

3. Manage the development program by tracking progress toward fundraising goals, monitoring the development budget, maintaining appropriate record keeping, and producing internal reports to ensure the success of the development function.

4. Coordinate organizational participation in workplace settings (especially the Combined Federal Campaign), and identify and cultivate new corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
Job Requirements:: Qualifications:

-3 – 5 years of proven experience building a healthy and diverse funding base as well as managing a complex fundraising program; demonstrated success in prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and closing corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, individual/major gifts, and planned gifts.

-Experience in successfully managing, motivating, and developing staff and volunteer teams.

-Excellent written and verbal communications skills; candidate should be an attentive listener, articulate speaker, and clear and persuasive writer who can appeal to various audiences.

-Proven track record of improving operational performance; ability to focus on outcomes and details.

-Financial management and analytical skills.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.

Some travel is required.
